[ thus he picks up the peeler and one of the potatoes and...well, he prods it for a second, he's kind of clouded by nervousness for a second. but he gets it after a try ] See, what'd I tell you?!
[How stubborn! Romania would've called it cute if there wasn't a risk of getting Mondo angry, so instead he watches the latter fumble with the potato before pulling off a passable attempt.]
Excellent! Now finish those up quickly or we won't have any food at all for dinner.
[Clearly pleased by this new development, Romania busies himself with other tasks, setting up the cutting board so that he can prepare to cook their next meal.
Though he's partway into slicing up some onions when he glances back over to where Mondo's standing.]
[Examining the potatoes Mondo brings with him, he'll set them on the cutting board before picking up his knife.]
I'll go slowly, yes? I want you to cut them like this. [Setting one of the potatoes in front of him, he'll cut it in half before pushing one aside and halving the other until both slices are laying flat on the surface. He'll halve those pieces one more time, this time length-wise, before proceeding to slice them into pieces as large as his thumbnail.
He does all of this slowly, making sure that his arms aren't obscuring his work before he slides the pile of potato chunks off to the side and offers the knife to Mondo.] Do you understand?
Yeah, 'course I can. I'm not that stupid, that's easy as hell!
[ and then he starts doing so at the amazingly fast pace of...screwing it up a little. it's not incredibly awful, but he could at least put more care into it ]
[Romania watches to make sure Mondo doesn't do anything dangerous like cut his entire hand off, picking up a few of the pieces when the latter's through with slicing them.]
You're not very nice to your food. They're already dead! The least you can do is be more careful with their bodies. [But no matter. He'll take the onion he's already peeled off to the side, gesturing for the knife again so that he can slice it in half and show Mondo how to dice one into small pieces.]
But you haven't died from what I made yet, yes? [That should be enough, obviously.]
But if you must know, we'll be making a rich potato soup. I wouldn't recommend eating too much of it though. You might not fit in that jacket of yours anymore and I wouldv'e wasted all that money!

So no one has taught you how to cook?

Now you must come over here with a few of those potatoes. [Already he's gesturing over to the spot beside him.] I'll teach you something right now.

[He'll offer the knife back to Mondo at that.] Now cut the rest of that onion.
